Abstract

Objectives: Describe some characteristics of antibiotic prophylaxis in obstetrics and gynecology surgery and evaluate the results of antibiotic prophylaxis in obstetrics and gynecology surgery at Hong Ngoc General Hospital in 2024.

Materials and methods: Prospective study with longitudinal follow-up on patients undergoing obstetrics and gynecology surgery at the Hong Ngoc General Hospital.

Results: Regarding some characteristics of antibiotic prophylaxis use, there were 1011 cases using Ampicillin/Sulbactam antibiotics, accounting for the highest rate of 99.4%. The wound healing rate was 99.1%; the wound infection rate was 0.9%, all of which were superficial wound infections.

Conclusion: Conduct a study to evaluate the appropriateness of antibiotic use in other types of procedures based on antibiotic prophylaxis for surgery.
