Objective: To describe the results and some challenges and advantages in implementing the 83 hospital quality criteria at several private healthcare facilities in Hanoi during 2022-2023.
Method: A cross-sectional descriptive study combining quantitative and qualitative methods. The quantitative part utilized secondary data from reports on the implementation results of the 83 hospital quality assessment criteria at various private healthcare facilities in Hanoi for 2022-2023. The qualitative part involved focus group discussions with hospital leaders, clinical doctors, and clinical nurses.
Results: The study shows that the average quality assessment score at five private hospitals from 2022 to 2023 has significantly improved, in 2023 with 4 out of 5 hospitals achieving higher quality assessment scores than in 2022. Several factors positively influencing the implementation of the 83 hospital quality criteria include human resources and training; infrastructure, equipment, and working environment; and the support and role of hospital leadership.
Conclusions: Hospitals need to enhance the quality of human resources and continue to promote information technology in medical examination and treatment activities to provide the best healthcare services for the public.
