Aims: Predict the risk of cardiovascular disease within 10 years according to the Framingham scale in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients.
Methods: Cross-sectional descriptive study on 140 patients diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, at the Department of Examination and Endocrinology Department of Nghe An General Friendship Hospital from February 2023 to March September 2023.
Results: Mean age was 64.62±9.98 years. The risk of cardiovascular disease in the next 10 years for the whole group is 12.09±8.53%, in the average risk group. Distribution of cardiovascular risk: 44.3% are low risk; 39.3% medium risk and 16.4% high risk. The risk of cardiovascular disease is higher in male patients with hypertension, smoker, and dyslipidemia.
Conclusion: Applying the Framingham score is simple and helps stratify the risk of cardiovascular disease for at-risk subjects such as type 2 diabetes.
