Objective: Analyze the change in quality of life of patients before and after gallbladder surgery at Nghe An General Friendship Hospital in 2024.
Research method: Cross-sectional descriptive study analyzed 170 patients undergoing cholecystectomy at Nghe An General Friendship Hospital from January to July 2024.
Results: The average quality of life score of patients after surgery was improved compared to before surgery in all areas: general quality of life (72.36 ± 9.97 compared to 82.17 ± 8.37; p < 0.001), basic symptoms (64.52 ± 10.88 vs. 66.15 ± 10.34; p < 0.001), mental health (56.96 ± 19.54 vs. 81.23 ± 12.00; p < 0.001), physical health (56.15 ± 20.37 vs. 76.84 ± 16.38; p < 0.001), social activities (66.62 ± 16.18 vs. 74.08 ± 15.51; p < 0.01) and other characteristic symptoms (92.02 ± 6.92 vs. 96.15 ± 3.38; p < 0.001). After gallbladder removal surgery, 71.8% of patients have a better quality of life; 27.6% of patients had unchanged quality of life; 0.6% of patients having worse quality of life.
Conclusion: The average quality of life score of patients after surgery was higher than before surgery (85.66 ± 7.11 vs. 72.36 ± 9.97, p < 0.001) and improved both 5 domains of general quality of life, basic symptoms, mental health, physical health, social functioning.
