Objective: Analyze some factors affecting compliance with medical equipment handling procedures of medical staff at Saigon - Hatinh General Hospital in 2024.
Research subjects and methods: Cross-sectional survey combined with qualitative research through in-depth interviews with management representatives (deputy director and hospital executive director), infection control officers (2 people) and medical staff directly involved in handling medical equipment (10 people).
Results: There was a complete, detailed, and appropriate guidance process; there are regulations on rewards and penalties and a toxic regime for medical staff handling equipment; there are adequate and modern facilities and materials for infection control, increasing compliance with handling medical equipment. At the Saigon - Hatinh General Hospital, there are no rewards and penalties for handling medical equipment activities, there is a lack of a specialized area for handling medical equipment, and the instrument washing room is still hot and stuffy. The number of medical staff in the infection control network is still small, the specialized staff is fully trained but the part-time medical staff in the network is not yet fully trained. Some medical staff are not yet aware of the importance of handling medical equipment. The simpler the instrument or the simpler the processing procedure and the fewer details, the easier it is to process according to the technical process.
Conclusion: Hospital need to overcome limitations and develop positive factors to improve the ability of medical staff to comply with handling medical equipment.
