50. ANEMIA PREVALENCE OF PREGNANT WOMEN IN THE FIRST TRIMESTER AT LE VAN THINH HOSPITAL AND ASSOCIATED FACTORS

Abstract

Objective: To determine the proportion of anemia and associated factors in pregnant women in the first trimester who visited Le Van Thinh Hospital.

Method: Retrospective design was conducted on 185 records of pregnant women in the first trimester from May 2024 to September 2024.

Results: The study recorded the average age of pregnant women was 28.8 years old. The gestational age of pregnant women was from 11 weeks to 13 weeks, of which 7.6% of pregnant women were 11 weeks pregnant, 43.2% of pregnant women were 12 weeks pregnant and 49.2% of pregnant women were 13 weeks pregnant. 98.9% of pregnant women did not have any accompanying diseases. The study recorded that 55.7% of pregnant women had normal BMI and 36.8% of pregnant women were overweight or obese; 7.6% of pregnant women have a thin body. The study recorded a rate of anemia of 6.5%. In addition, the study also recorded that anemia in pregnant women in the first trimester is affected by BMI. Specifically, underweight pregnant women have a higher rate of anemia than pregnant women with an average body or overweight/obesity.

Conclusion: The proportion of anemia in pregnant women in the first trimester is not too common. It is necessary to pay attention to the problem of underweight in pregnant women. Ensuring nutrition for pregnant women as a measure to prevent anemia
