Abstract

Objectives: To describe the results of nursing practice management on infection control and some factors affecting the results of nursing practice management on infection control.

Methods: A cross-sectional study conducted on 216 nurses and a qualitative study on 13 subjects including 05 leaders of departments/departments related to infection control, 08 nurses in clinical departments, at Cai Nuoc General Hospital, Ca Mau from November 2022 to May 2023.

Results: The overall assessment of the practice management of infectious control reached 74.2%. Good practice of nurses on infection control accounted for 58.8%. Factors hindering the management and practice of nurses on infection control include 5 factors: (1) Lack of human resources on infection control management; (2) Human resources in charge of management of infection control are limited in terms of professional qualifications; (3) Ineffective knowledge training on infection control; (4) Ineffective monitoring of infection control practices; (5) The knowledge of nurses about infection control was not high (accounting for 19.4%), in which, knowledge affects practice (OR=5.473 [CI95%: 2.194-13.650]).
