Objectives: Describe some factors related to the nutritional status of elderly people being treated at Nghe An General Friendship Hospital.
Subjects: Study of 290 patients aged 60 years and older inpatient treatment at Nghe An General Friendship Hospital from January to June 2023.
Method: Cross-sectional descriptive study.
Results: The rate of malnutrition in the group that has not graduated from high school is higher (MNA and NRS) 2 times and 1.9 times respectively compared to the group that has graduated from high school or higher with (OR = 2; 95%CI = 1.0-3.9 and OR =1.9; 95%CI = 1.0-3.7). The rate of malnutrition (MNA) in the rural/mountainous group was 2.2 times higher than the city/town group (OR = 2.2; 95%CI = 1.2-3.8). The rate of malnutrition (BMI) in the group living alone/widowed, living alone is 3 times higher than the group living with a spouse/children (OR = 3; 95%CI = 1.4-6,6). The rate of malnutrition in the group with 2 or more diseases (MNA and NRS) is 4.5 times and 4.8 times higher than the group with 1 diseases (OR = 4.5; 95%CI = 2.5-7.9 and OR = 4.8; 95%CI = 2.6-8.7). Little or no physical activity increases the risk of malnutrition compared to moderate and regular activity groups.
Conclusion: The rate of malnutrition in groups who have not graduated from high school is higher than in groups who have graduated from high school or higher; the rural/mountainous group is higher than the city/town group; the group living alone/widowed, living alone is higher than the group living with a spouse/children; the group with 2 or more diseases was higher than the group with 1 diseases.
