Actinomyces can be found on Amydal surgical specimens.
Aims: Describe the rate of Actinomyces fungal infection and find out some factors related to Actinomyces fungal infection in Amydal surgical specimens at Thai Nguyen National Hospital 2022. Objectives: 154 cases.
Methods: Retrospective cross-sectional description.
Results: There are more men than women (60,4% and 39,6%). The majority of patients are children with a rate of 51,9%. The rate of Actinomyces infection was 27,3% (42/154). Age group, Amydal size are not related to Actinomyces infection with p>0.05, but the appearance of “sulfur granules” when observed macroscopically is significantly related to Actinomyces infection with p<0.001.
Conclusion: Actinomyces infection should be assessed on microscopic specimens of surgical Amydal specimens.
