16. FACTORS ASSOCIATED WITH PERIOPERATIVE ANXIETY AND THEIR MAGNITUDE OF IMPACT AMONG PATIENTS UNDERGOING CORONARY ANGIOGRAPHY OR ANGIOPLASTY AT THE UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER IN HO CHI MINH CITY

Abstract

Research objective: The study was conducted to determine the impact of factors on patient anxiety before coronary angiography and intervention procedures.

Research method: The study used a cross-sectional descriptive method. To be performed from August 2023 to November 2023 on patients scheduled for coronary angiography and intervention at the University Medical Center in Ho Chi Minh City.

Results: Research have shown that there are 05 factors that impact the patient’s anxiety before the procedure with statistical significance from high to low, including: Procedure Outcome (β = 0.302); Unconscious (β = 0.297); Discomfort (β = 0.282); Pre-occupation (β = 0.191); Dependence on others (β = 0.131). Research also shows that there is a difference between marital status (between married and single) to the level of anxiety before the patient’s procedure.

Conclusion: It is necessary to develop appropriate methods when directly contacting, discussing, and consulting patients to reduce patient anxiety.
