Objective: Describe the clinical characteristics and evaluate the results of urethral stricture treatment in 48 cases at the urology department of Thanh Hoa Provincial General Hospital from 2018 to 2024.
Material and methods: Includes 48 patients with urethral strictures treated by plastic surgery at the urology department of Thanh Hoa province General Hospital, from Jan 2018 to April 2024. This is serial cases reported by descriptive method.
Results: The average age was 39.42 ± 18.43 years old, the reason for hospitalization was urinary retention accounting for 79.1%, anterior urethral stricture representing 68.7%. The average surgical time was 135.3 ± 45.1 minutes. There were 87.5% end-to-end urethroplasty. There were no complications during surgery, the average hospital stay was 8.5 ± 3.4 days. Good results were 97.3%, erectile dysfunction occurred in 12% of patients.
Conclusion: Urethroplasty is a safe, highly effective technique with few complications in the treatment of patients with urethral stricture.
