19. EEVALUATION OF SURGICAL RESULTS OF ANTERIOR ARTIFICIAL SPINE REPLACEMENT AND POSTERIOR SPINE FIXATION IN THE TREATMENT OF THORACIC SPINE TUBERCULOSIS AT NATIONAL LUNG HOSPITAL IN 2022

Abstract

Introduction: Spinal tuberculosis accounts for less than 2% of the tuberculosis group. The disease progresses silently but causes serious consequences. The typical stage of the disease often causes severe pain and sequelae if not treated promptly. Anterior spinal decompression surgery, removal of tuberculosis lesions, artificial vertebra replacement and posterior spinal fixation is a superior method that brings high efficiency in the treatment of spinal tuberculosis.

Objective: Evaluate the effectiveness of anterior spinal decompression surgery, artificial spinal body replacement and posterior spinal fixation in the treatment of thoracic spinal tuberculosis at the National Lung Hospital.

Method: Cross-sectional and retrospective description of the characteristics of 47 patients diagnosed with spinal tuberculosis who were treated with tuberculosis drugs according to the regimen and had surgery using the above method in 2022.

Results: High neurological recovery efficiency, VAS and ASIA scores improved significantly after surgery, bone healing rate reached 100%, no disease recurrence, good surgical effectiveness reached 95.2%; Deep corrective surgery with a pedicle screw system has good kyphosis correction effect, the average kyphosis angle decreased from 27.2o ± 8.9o before surgery to 11.1o ± 5.6o after surgery (p<0, 05).

Conclusion: Anterior decompression surgery with artificial vertebra replacement and posterior spinal fixation with a pedicle screw system is an effective and thorough method in treating spinal tuberculosis and should be widely applied..
